A simple hike, perfect for new hikers (human or dog)! This was one of my dog, Bella’s, first hikes and she absolutely loved it. The start of it is quite steep, but levels out about .2 miles out. Most of the hike thereafter is downhill or flat, so not too strenuous- like I said great for new hikers. Looking to the left of the trail, you can see over a huge canyon of trees, showing you how far out in the wilderness you truly are. The sound of the wind blowing through the trees eventually turns into the roar of the waterfall. At first, you cross a stream- dimming down your expectations for the falls. After crossing a very woodsy bridge, you follow the extended trail to the actual falls. Hiking down through the boulders to reach the waterfall is quite the challenge- personally I got a little paranoid of falling with the wind gusts that day- but totally possible if you take your time. I wouldn’t recommend this section for small kids or dogs, the ground is very unstable and there are lots of steep drop-offs. Once you get to the falls, your breath will be taken away (not only from the sight, but the adrenaline as well). It is fully worth it and you can actually feel the mist of the falls on you. Like I said before, this hike is decently easy (minus the extension route) and holds immense beauty. For only taking about 1 hour, fulfilling your daily cardio, and giving you a slight rush, this hike is definitely worth it!
